Box2Beat Cancer - A Boxathon Success!

On Saturday 28th March 2015, team Fitness Quest hosted a 3 hour long Boxathon, with the aim of raising £1000 for Ovarian Cancer Action. The event was a massive success and to date we have managed to raise an amazing £1556.50!

I'd like to thank everyone who got involved; including those who took part, all of the sponsors, everyone who bought raffle tickets, Epiphany School for the hall hire, Digital Image Bureau for printing, everyone who helped to promote the event or raise awareness of ovarian cancer and the following local businesses for donating a prize to our raffle:

Wilkinson Bournemouth, Cooper Dean Harvester, Falmer Palmers, The Coffee Club - Westbourne, Kettlercise, Rhythm 'N' Tunes Karaoke, The Crown, Amazing Beauty, SO Gas, Room 104, Monkey Madness, Lewis Plumbing, Wave 105 and Liberty's Owl, Raptor & Reptile Centre, Conto Lounge, Laura Butler Hairdressing, Cookie Design, Cake Lust, Hampericious Gifts, Hen Party Fun & also thank you to individuals who donated a prize, without your kindness we would not have raised anywhere near this much!

We all had a lot of fun on the day, combining some tough exercises with learning the basic Boxercise punches, some combo's and not forgetting some good old team challenges. Safe to say all of our muscles were aching for the rest of the weekend, but it was for a great cause and we're all really proud.

If you have any remaining sponsorship money to hand in, please do so, along with your sponsorship form by Thursday 23rd April, please also remember that it's not too late to donate online by clicking here.

Please remember why we took part in this event, it was to raise vital funds and awareness of ovarian cancer throughout March, which is ovarian cancer awareness month. It's always important to stay aware of the symptoms, the main ones are:

  • Persistent Bloating
  • Persistent Stomach Pain
  • Finding it difficult to eat or feeling full quickly
  • Needing to wee more often
If you are concerned about any of the above symptoms, please arrange a consultation with your GP.

If you like the look of Boxercise, but don't fancy 3 hours of it, why not sign up to the next course? I'm taking bookings for the next 8 week course starting on Tuesday 5th May, more information can be found here.
